IAPA's Video Program
In the year 2009, IAPA has embarked on a new initiative of producing an educational video material that would deal with the topics of HIV/AIDS transmission & prevention and stigma, recrimination & discrimination, in collaboration with Apple Curry Studios, Chennai. We envisaged involving in this work, young people, so that they would be given an opportunity to provide artistic expression to their feelings and desires.
The reason that goaded us to embark on this task is the fact that the present materials for the youth are only in the form of books. The video material would definitely generate the interest of the youth and could be made accessibleto a large percentage of population, even in remote areas.
To this end, Executive Director, Finance Director and In-Country Director of IAPA had high level meeting with Mr. Rajesh Bajaj of Apple Curry had agreed to the project and entered into an agreement in signing of an MOU, between the organizations. Apple curry will provide support from the studio placed at our disposal by all their equipment, infrastructure, expertise and personnel for producing the video. IAPA’s major work is to form advisory committee for final approval of the video produced. The Identification of suitable students into the project by working with HoD from the Chennai based colleges, orientation to the students, technical guidance and support to deliver the video. Currently we have two students each from Women Christian College and Ethiraj College for Women as Interns in taking care of Prevention and Care & Support respectively.
The studio personnel, IAPA staff and the interns are working together to this new initiative of our three video educational materials, which would help the youth to choose the correct options to protect themselves from HIV/AIDS and motivate them to show love and affection to those infected with HIV and help to burst the stigma and discrimination that surrounds this epidemic.
The pilot project which is kick started in 2009, would be continued every year to produce video educational materials for HIV/AIDS.
